Scholars receive critical career support in identifying their professional goals and transitioning from university to the workforce through internships and job placements.
Isomo Academy: Two-Year Journey
8-WEEK RESIDENTIAL BOOTCAMPS
Summer 1
Rising S5 students are immersed in guided readings, seminar discussions, writing workshops, and language labs, with a special focus on innovative thinking and leadership fundamentals.
Return to school
With a new passion for learning, Scholars return to their high schools and communities committed to share their knowledge and serve their communities in innovative ways.
Summer 2
Rising S6 students return for a second 8-week bootcamp where they focus on research writing, advanced reading, and creative writing, with an introduction to standardized tests and African thought and literature.
Areas of Focus:
Foundations of Learning
Scholars start by building foundational learning skills through Guided Reading, Academic Writing, and Innovative Leadership courses that prepare them to become drivers of their own learning.
University Preparation
Scholars engage in a simulated university experience through seminar courses on various topics, including Sustainability, African Literature, Worldviews, Data Science, and more, in addition to Advanced Research Writing and Leadership Capstone.
Leadership Development
Through experiential learning and our unique ModelUmushyikirano, Scholars develop their leadership potential and equip themselves to play the critical roles that will transform their community, country and continent.
Personal & PROFEssional development
Scholars embark on a journey of personal and professional formation through guided reflections, psychosocial support, engagement in internships that introduce them to the 21st century workplace.
COLLEGE COUNSELING
Scholars work extensively with Isomo’s world-class team of College Counselors to put together compelling applications to the best universities in the world, with a special focus on the African continent.

Building Innovative Leaders
Using on real-life cases and profiles, Isomo’s Innovative Leadership and ModelUmushykirano curriculum centers around the urgency of effective, ethical, and community-centered leadership related to specific Sustainable Development Goals in Rwanda.
The goal is to challenge students to better understand the central problems within Rwanda's public and private sector and find innovative solutions.
Our Approach to Scholar Support
Family
Groups
Scholars join a Family Group, made up of peers and Isomo staff, where they engage in daily activities that build their character and support each other in close community.
Psychosocial support
Scholars learn how to develop a healthy self-esteem and overcome challenges. When needed, students have access to one-on-one support with Isomo counselors.
Spiritual Programming
Scholars engage in daily devotions, worship sessions, and discipleship courses where they learn from spiritual leaders and explore ways to lead a meaningful life.
Africa Scholars Experience
Isomo is committed to becoming a feeder of incredible talent to universities across the African continent.
