FAQ

You must currently be in Senior Four (S4) or the equivalent (eg, Cambridge IGCSE, Grade 10 and Grade 11). Applicants from other systems should confirm equivalence in advance at apply@bridge2rwanda.org. This means if you are in Senior 5 or Senior 6, you are not eligible to apply for Isomo Academy.

No. Eligible students from all school systems in Rwanda, including refugees, are welcome to apply. Selection is based on merit, not school type.

Isomo Academy is FREE of charge. We are determined to make the Academy accessible to all people regardless of their socio-economic status.

Eligibility depends on current grade, not past application status. The program is designed for S4 students.

We consider academic excellence, leadership potential, and community engagement. For admission to Isomo Academy, students’ academic records will be examined using S3/S4 report cards and their O-Level National Exam results (equivalent academic records are accepted for non-REB systems). We evaluate students’ leadership through extra-curricular activities such as school clubs, teams, and student committees. Students will also be evaluated on their community engagement, such as service projects and volunteer experience.

Isomo Academy’s curriculum is designed with the Rwandan high school in mind. The purpose of the program is to develop a foundational level of English skills in all four language domains: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. In addition to the English, critical thinking, personal development, digital literacy, and leadership skills you will gain at Isomo Academy, you will also learn about university opportunities both in and outside of Rwanda.

After the deadline, applications are reviewed by the Isomo recruitment team. Applicants receive communications within five to six weeks after the deadline. Notifications will be sent by email.

Strong English isn’t required to apply, but a willingness to improve English, especially through reading and writing, is important for success in the program.

You can still apply with your first-term report card. Second-term report and third-term report cards can be submitted once available at apply@bridge2rwanda.org
