Isomo Partners with iDebate to Host Debate Competition in Rwanda
This month, Isomo Academy hosted its first-ever International Public Debate Association (IPDA) Debate Tournament, in partnership with iDebate Rwanda. Unlike team debates, IPDA was one-on-one. Each debater built their own case and defended it.
Throughout the day, more than 60 scholars challenged ideas, defended their arguments, and spoke with purpose. The tournament gave them a space to build critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills.
The event was about more than competition. Under the theme ‘We won’t wait for seats of power,’ scholars reflected on Rwanda’s Vision 2050, the future they hope to build for themselves, their communities, and the country. Vision 2050 is about 24 years away, and today’s young people will be the leaders of that time. The tournament showed that the journey to 2050 starts now, with young people taking part in the conversation today.
