Primary Teacher Residents Make Incredible Progress

In just three months, the Ministry of Education’s Primary Teacher Residency Program (PTRP) has seenremarkable academic progress among its 100 teacher residents. Through a two-week, in-person immersion training and subsequent remote learning with the Isomo team, residents have advanced an average of 2-3 grade levels in English-language comprehension during the first 12 weeks of the year-long program.
This has been achieved through daily readings, writing assignments, and communication-focused activities. The upcoming semester will focus on spoken English, introducing residents toa Public Speaking class and UmushyikiranoLab for enhanced language production and self-guided learning. The PTRP intervention includes a blend of remote and in-person learning, which will be reflected in B2R’s new Isomo Circles program set to launch in Rwandan high schools this year.
